Energy Efficiency Report
The 2×6 rStudTM for this report is assumed to be 3 inches of a 2x Stud with 2.5 inches of insulated foam (R-7/inch) resulting in an R-Value of 21.25. The 2×4 rStudTM for this report is assumed to be 3 inches of a 2x Stud with 0.5 inches of insulated foam (R-7/inch) resulting in an R-Value of 7.25. For this worksheet it was assumed that rStudTM would be coupled with blown cellulose in the wall cavities. The 2×6 rStudTM system results in a U-Value of 0.044. The 2×4 rStudTM system results in a U-Value of 0.075.
The equivalent U-Factors in the 2006 and 2009 IECC were used for the U-Values in the comparisons. A default ratio of framing area to total wall surface area of 23% was applied to all assemblies (representative of standard, 16” on- center framing practices). Cooling season cost savings are based on an electricity cost of $0.10 / kWh. Heating season cost savings are based on a natural gas cost of $1.00 / Therm.
